The Title I, Part C Education Program has been an integral part of providing instructional and support services for the children of mobile agricultural workers since 1965. “Migratory” children need these supports as they move from state to state, community to community, school to school, repeatedly interrupting their education and making educational continuity and credit accrual challenging. In Nebraska, the program identified 5,263 children in 84 out of 93 counties during 2023-24.
Our program goals are to increase school readiness, increase proficiency in English language arts and mathematics, increase high school graduation, and meet the needs of youth not enrolled in schools. We accomplish this by working with schools and agribusinesses to identify, then serve these children with the goal of helping them achieve academically and graduate from high school prepared for future success.
Identifying and enrolling families into the program is done through an in-person interview with the worker outside of work time. Referrals can be made online at https://idrrefferals.net, via QR code, or by calling 402-649-4519.
